![]() | O U R Y O G A Beginner Yoga - Drop In's will benefit from some previous yoga experience will be helpful. Instructors are open to students with various beginner level experience. This class is designed as a "yoga practice" which differs from the 4 week beginner series that provides the teachings of basic yoga fundamentals in progression. Recommended Drop In Yoga classes for Beginners are currently on Monday 9:30am/6pm, Tuesday 5:30pm, Wednesday 7:30pm, Thursday 9am/5:15pm Beginner Yoga Series are yoga classes especially created for a beginner. Progressive classes are created to learn the basics of Hatha Yoga. The fundamentals of alignment and breathing will come into immediate play in your everyday life. You will also learn and practice basic stretches, balancing poses, strengthening exercises and relaxation techniques. You can begin to experience for yourself some of the benefits that can arise from practicing yoga. This includes increased flexibility and strength, promoting healthy cardiovascular through asanas (poses) targeting circulatory and respiratory systems, and digestive health, as well as a sense of well-being and awareness. This series of classes is taught on a beginner level. It is different from a “drop in” class because the instructor is teaching all beginners as a group. This allows for stopping and further explanation and discussion while participating. Pre- registration (P*) is necessary to maintain the highest level of quality to keep this class a success. Class sizes are limited so that you will receive lots of personal attention and will gain the skills and confidence to move into a “drop in” yoga class at The Yoga Place.Iyengar Yoga is a form of
classical hatha yoga is based on the writings of sage Patanjali 2500 years ago,
as taught by living master BKS Iyengar of Pune, India. He has made yoga
accessible and relevant to people everywhere, regardless of their physical or
mental ability. The system of teaching is methodical and progressive,
emphasizing detailed correctness and absolute safety. Postures (asanas) are
taught in specific sequences, designed to reach the multiple layers of the body
and self – muscles, organs, nerves, breath and consciousness. Standing postures
are taught, along with seated, inverted (upside down), and lying down asanas.
When necessary, supports called “props” are used to facilitate learning allowing
the student to progress safely to suit his or her body. Beginners work in a
basic way on simple postures according to their capabilities. As one progresses
refined ways of working are introduced as well as more complex postures.
Iyengar Yoga is not competitive. You will not be judged against other people. Supported
full relaxation postures are given in each class session. Introductory class series' are designed to introduce the Iyengar method of Yoga to students either new to Yoga or new to the Iyengar method. This series will emphasize standing postures with instruction in the fundamentals of body alignment to build strength and flexibility and exercise the internal organs. Also taught will be beginning seated and forward bending postures followed by passive supported postures. What to wear & bring: Wear any comfortable clothes that are not baggy so that the instructor is able to see your knees and elbows. Bare feet and an empty stomach are essential. Jewelry and perfumes to a minimum please. Addressing Individual Health Needs: The practice of yoga can aid in many health situations. Some health conditions require special yoga programs, which may or may not be accommodated during the general class. Please call in advance to discuss your individual situation. Also, please inform your instructor if you are menstruating or ill. Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic powerful tool for expanding awareness. Taught as an integrated system of exercise, breathe control and meditation, it promotes physical health, stimulates the mind’s potential and connects us to our innermost being. Morning Yoga is with the sun coming up and a wonderful way to greet the day. Just an hour class to get you ready for the day. Restorative Yoga is a soft practice holding asana for awhile using bolsters and support to allow the central nervous system to settle down. Tantra Yoga offers tools for reprogramming the mind and our desires through physical and ritual cleaning, breathing exercises, contemplation, visualization, repetition of a mantra; Tantra Yoga helps to unfold our divine nature. Yoga 1 is open to all practitioners at any level. Each teacher has their own style and process of leading the practice to different levels. Beginners, long time practitioners, and curious minds will all be fed in this level of practice. Yoga 2 practices a series of poses stacked with inner focus towards the breath. A deeper practice which includes bandhas, pranayama, and time to meditate. |
